YOU'VE GOT WEBSITE QUESTIONS?Let’s put your mind at ease.
DESIGNING A WEBSITE together“How soon can we get started on my website?”and other questions you might have:
-
Website project start dates depend on my current availability.
When you submit your inquiry, you can include your ideal launch timeline, and I’ll confirm my next opening based on your project’s scope and my current calendar.
Once we agree on a start date, I’ll hold your spot with a signed contract and partial deposit.
-
I offer two website design packages, each with its own timeline:
Conversation Website - 3 weeks: perfect for service businesses who want a polished site and don’t need custom features. The whole website, including writing, layout, and design is completed in a structured three week flow that begins on your project start date.
Destination Website - 5-8 weeks: a flexible, custom website project designed for businesses that use their website to host things like shops, sales pages, memberships, etc. The project timeline depends on the project’s scope and number of pages, but we’ll lay out clear milestones during onboarding so you always know what to expect.
-
Absolutely! You’ll be working one-on-one with me through every step of the website design process. I’ll guide you from strategy to launch so the whole experience feels simple and low-stress.
-
I love working with all kinds of small businesses! My design and writing process helps me get to know your business and industry well enough to speak your language naturally, no matter the field.
Recent projects included a plant shop, a professional artist and wallpaper designer, a general contractor, and an excavation company.
My professional background has also given me hands-on work experience in:
Business operations
Education and coaching
Yoga, wellness, and fitness
Floristry
Fine art and handmade businesses

Nope, you don’t need to have a full brand design before we start.
You’re welcome to bring whatever brand materials you already have, but every website project includes Brand Essentials, to make sure your website looks polished and cohesive. You get a 5-color palette, favicon (icon for your browser tab), a simple wordmark logo for your website header, and font pairings that fit your style.
It can be helpful though to get branding in place before updating your website, so if you’re looking to go deeper with your brand (think messaging, full logo suite, brand patterns, and overall strategy), Brand Direction might be a better fit before you begin your website. It’s a full deep dive into who you are, what you stand for, and how to make your visuals match your voice.
-
Conversion Copywriting is a specialized form of website copywriting, but I like to think of it as how you give your website a voice that sells.
Your site won’t sound salesy or pushy, but it will be written to build trust and guide the right visitors toward the services that fit them best.
I do research into the things your audience cares about, how they talk, and what kind of education they need from you to better understand the value in what you offer.
learning THE TECH“What’s the best website platform for small businesses?” and other tech questions:
-
Squarespace is a website platform that lets you design, update, and manage your site without needing to know how to code.
It’s all-in-one, which means your domain, hosting, and design tools all live under one roof.
I often add code to customize my websites, but that’s a preference you get to decide when we talk about how you plan to use and update your website during your project kick-off call.
All you need to know right now, is that I choose Squarespace so that if you want the ability to maintain and update your website yourself, you can do so easily. And, if you’d rather have a tailored website with unique customizations, I have the tools to create that inside Squarespace.
-
I can! You’ll just need to be open to switching over.
I design on Squarespace because it’s reliable, easy to maintain, and gives small businesses the right balance of flexibility and simplicity.
If your current site lives somewhere else (like Wix or WordPress), I’ll help you transfer your content and get settled into your new digital home. (I’ll also tell you if you switching over to Squarespace is not the best option for you, because truthfully, ecommerce businesses are generally better suited to Shopify).
I am currently expanding my website offers to include the option to build on ShowIt, so if you like to learn more about when that will be available, email me and I can share the details!
-
Nope! Squarespace makes editing super simple. You’ll be able to change text, swap out photos, add new pages, or update your services without worrying about breaking anything.
I’ll also walk you through how to use everything before we launch so you feel confident managing your new site.
Destination Websites do often need extra coding to achieve the design you’re looking for, so I hold space on my calendar for returning clients to book periodic design updates when needed.
-
Professional photos are definitely recommended, but not a requirement. Your photo needs will depend on your industry and site style. Once I know the goals of your website, I can help you make the most of what you already have and fill in any gaps with high-quality stock images that fit your brand vibe. And if you’re planning a future brand shoot, I’ll give you pointers on what types of shots will make your new website shine.
-
Yes! Every website project includes on-page SEO to help your site get found on Google. That means I’ll take care of all the behind-the-scenes setup — like keywords, page titles, and meta descriptions — so your site launches with a strong foundation.
And if you’d like to keep building momentum, I also offer ongoing SEO-friendly writing (like blog content and page updates) exclusively for past Small Muse web clients. Each project comes with a custom proposal based on your goals and the scope of the work.
-
Yes, because most SEO best practices also help with AIO or GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) too.
Optimizing for AI search is about making sure your website is easy for LLM’s and AI Assistants to understand and pull information from.
To help with that, I focus on clear page structure, well-written and human-drafted copy, and organized content so AI knows your business exists and can point people to you. Like SEO, though, a lot of AIO is connected to things you’ll need to build over time, like client reviews, media mentions, and on-going content updates.
I can’t promise exactly how or where AI will show your site, but I build your site with best practices in mind so that you have a solid foundation to build from.
-
No problem at all.
Your domain can stay where it is, and we can connect it to your new Squarespace website if you prefer.
If you’d rather have everything live in one home, I’ll guide you through the domain transfer process so it’s smooth.
-
I currently use select AI tools for SEO research, code development, and some internal studio processes. I avoid using it in creating any client assets (writing, design, etc.) because I want clients to trust they are receiving high-quality, human-drafted materials. You can read more why in this blog post.
BEcomiNG A CLIENT “Can I request a payment plan?” and other questions you might have about next steps as a client of the studio:
-
You’re ready if you:
have a clear set of services or products that you offer
have begun working with an audience (or know the audience you want to reach)
and are ready for your work to be more visible online.
If you’re not sure if you’re ready to create your site, I’m happy to chat through any questions you’re debating. I want you to feel confident in your website investment, so there’s no pressure. If now’s not the time, the door is always open!
-
A professional website is a foundational investment that pays off by helping you build trust with prospective clients, supporting your sales and marketing efforts, and making your business more discoverable.
-
Yes! I offer flexible payment plans to make investing in a professional website more manageable. You can spread the cost over multiple payments while still getting a high-quality, strategic site that positions your business for growth from day one.
-
All projects are reserved with a partial payment, which holds space in the studio calendar and allows us to set your kick-off date and delivery timeline. You are always welcome to pay in full upfront if you prefer.
For larger, multi-part projects such as custom Destination Website proposals or work that includes Sept. Dept. services, you may request a custom payment plan for the remaining balance after your initial payment.
For all projects, the remaining balance must be paid on or before the final day of your project. Once payment is complete, your final materials will be shared with you.
-
You can add a portfolio or a blog to your conversation website three-week-build for an additional $950. You’ll get a landing page and one template post that you’ll be able to easily duplicate as you fill out the remainder of your content.
Other projects can be added on as you build (or in the future), but they do extend the three-week timeline. For example, if you want help filling out your blog with SEO aware articles, you can check out the Sept. Dept, where you can commission a suite of three posts.
If you already know that you want to add shops, sales pages, and other features, I’d recommend starting with a Destination Website custom proposal instead of adding on as you go.
